PACIFIC CAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY (DIABID CANYON UNIT NO. I) i DOCKET No. 50-275 The attached report by our field inspector of a visit to the subject facility on March 11, 1969 is forwarded for information. No items of noncoop11ance or of safety significance were noted during the l

visit.

Based on our observations and information obtained from the applicant personnel, the tentative schedule for the start of construction of the containment building appears to be a reasonable forecast.

Also, of interest, was an obvious awareness on the part of the applicant personnel of the stress expected to be placed on quality assurance and quality control programs.

You will note that PG&E's specifications for the tensile testing of Cadweld splices in the concrete reinforcing steel calls for a lesser number of splices to be tested than are suggested in the RTM which covers this subject. However, in view of the (intetual) classification of RTMs, the discrepancy was not discussed with the PG&E representa-tives.
