Responsibilities 6 Agency lead for all aspects of NRC regulatory oversight of the Three Mile Island Unit 2 (TMI-2) cleanup. Directs a staf f of nuclear engineers and  :

i health physicists, located at the TMl site and NRC headquarters, who carry out both inspection and licensing activities. Responsible for close communication with state and federal agencies, and members of the public in the TMI-2 l

vicinity. This position has been held since October 1985.

Previous Experience ,

Between August 1984 and October 1985 served as Deputy Directer of the TMI Cleanup Project Directorate responsible for NRC onsite regulatory oversight of the cleanup. From 1982 to August 1984 served as technical assistant / nuclear  ;

engineer to NRC's Executive Director for Operations. In that capacity served l j

as the principal staff level contact for NRC coordination with the Institute  :

for Nuclear Power Operations (INPO). Also worked on special projects including, NRC initiatives following the Anticipated Transient Without Scam l Incident at the Salem plant, and development of an agency strategy for  !

upgrading NRC emergency communications capability. Served as a member of the l l

agency Human Frp ors Review Committee and as technical advisor to the NRC .

Senior Contract Review Board. I in 1980/1982 served as technical assistant / nuclear engineer to the Director of j the NRC's Three Mile Island Program Office. Acted as Comission appointed ,

I liaison to the TMI-2 Advisory Panel and participated in technical reviews of  :

major cleanup proposals. In 1979/1980 was a nuclear engineer in NRC's Office l of Policy Evaluation. Prepared studies of major technical and policy issues. j including nuclear plant safety and radiation protection. In 1979 served as a )

nuclear engineer in the NRC's post-accident staff located at the TMI-2 site.  :

Responsibilities included reviews of detailed procedures and development of 1 new technical specification requirements. In 1978/1979 was a nuclear engineer  :

in NRC's Effluent Treatment System Branch with responsibility for reviewing the technical adequacy of radwaste treatment systems. In 1977/1978 Revised was a l I

radiological physicist with NRC's Radiological Assessment Branch.  !
