3.2 Temporary marking material for stainless steel shall be with a marker approved in writing by the Project Mechanical,

Engineer, and purchased on a Safety-Related Purchase Orde-approved by the Project Hechanical Engineer. The Project Mechanical Engineer shall provide the Warehouse with a list i

of approved markers for stainless' steel, which shall be lo-l cated at the place of issuance. Temporary marking ink shall '

be removed within two inches of the weld region prior to local preheat or welding and removed completely prior to heat '

l treating or startup.

3.2.1 If an item loses the color code identification des-cribed in Ref. 2.10, Para. 4.1.3, prior to becoming part of a larger traceable item and is not adequately identified, notify QC, who will verify heat code or class marking and re-color code as required.

Permanent identification should be located 6" from the end of a piece.

When temporary marking or tagging is adequate to maintain traceability until an item becomes part of a larger traceable item (and the records of the larger item provide a traceabic record of the smaller item), then permanent marking of the smaller item is not required. Traceable identificat hm shall be maintained through code stamping.

3.4. Identification of pieces, welds, and other items shall be as shown on the drawings, and in accordance with Ref. 2.4, Attach-ment M3-10, and Ref. 2.1, Appendix 1.

When identifying an i

item, it shall be identified by the complete support number as!

described in MS-10, followed by a dash, then piece (item) number.

3.5 Weld symbols on drawings shall be followed, with the exception' of the symbols that designate where welds shall be performed.

The Area Engineer will determine which welds are to be per-formed in the shop.'

3.6 Repair by welding shall be performed in accordance with Ref.

2.2.

3.13 Class 1, 2, and 3 ASME and Non-ASME material shall be segre-gated from one another and in a location which is identified with code, class, and other appropriate information, to com-pletely identify material (e.g., ASME Section III, C1.1, SA-36, W6 x 15.5, P.O. and Item No., and Stock No.).

3.14 Where ANI and Code Stamping are referenced, they do not apply '

to II/I supports.

3.15 Naterial cut from a completed safety-related hanger or hanger sub-assembly shall be sent to reusable non-safety-related stock, unless authorization is issued to record the heat code prior to cutting, in which case, the material shall be sent to reusable safety-related stock.
