SEP 17 24 Docket Nos. 50-424/425 NOTE To: Weisfore:.a..cQiraWieader Section A, AEB l

FROM:

Charles A. Willis, Leader Effluent Treatment Systems Section, NET 8

SUBJECT:

V0GTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT, UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2, FISSION PRODUCT CONTROL SYSTEMS FILTER EFFICIENCIES As prescribed in Standard Review Plan Sections 6.4, 6.5.1, 6.5.3, 15.6.5, Appendicies A and B, 15.7.4, and 15.7.5, we have reviewed the acceptability j

of the design and the efficiencies of the filters to be used in the fission i

product control systems and the control room atmosphere filtration system, as described in the Vogtle Electric Generating Plants, Unit Nos.1 and 2, FSAR.

The filter designs have been determined to be acceptable and in accordance with the guidelines of Regulatory Guide 1.52, with the following excdptions, which are still being evaluated:

1.

No local indication or alarm signals are provided for certain flow, pressure drop, temperature, and status sensors; and 2.

No recorded indication or alarm signals are provided at the control room for certain pressure drop and temperature sensors.

The efficiencies of the filters, pending resolution of the above open l

item, are given in Enclosure A for use in your review under the above sections of the Standard Review Plan.

Questions should be addressed to Charles R. Nichols (x27634), the cognizant reviewer assigned to this facility.
