APR 12 B54 MEMORANDUM FOR:
Thomas M. Novak, Assistant Director for Licensing, Division of Licensing FROM:
L. S. Rubenstein, Assistant Director for Core and Plant Systems, Division of Systems Integration t
SUBJECT:
RE-PRIORITIZATION OF PROBLEM SHEETS ASSOCIATED WITH GRAND GULF TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS - AUXILIARY SYSTEMS BRANCH -
TAC NO. 54458 In ray memorandum to you dated April 9,1984, we reported the results of the
' Auxiliary Systems Branch's (ASB) re-prioritization of the proposed changes to the Grand Gulf Technical Specifications. Of the 341 changes to the Technical Specifications.39 changes were identified as falling into the ASB primary area of responsibility.
These 39 changes were further categorized into 23 Category 1 1,tems, which should be resolved prior to criticality, and 16 Category 2 items, which should be resolved prior to exceeding 5% power.
We pointed out in my memorandum that the intent of the changes was not always cleart This point was corroborated in a meeting with the applicant on April 11, 1984.
During our discussions with the applicant, it was determined that the 23 Category 1 items could be reclassified. Therefore, ASB has now concluded that there are no items which must be resolved prior to criticality.
Since there are no Category 1 items ASB will not provide an SER or SALP report as requested by your April 10, 1984 memorandum.
