REVIEW 0F ONSITE/0FFSITE POWER ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM FOR GRAND GULF 1

REFERENCE:

Memorandum, L. S. Rubenstein to T. Novak, dated April 17,1984, " Review of Onsite/0ffsite Power Enhancement Program for Grand Gulf Unit 1 The Power Systems Branch, DSI, requested.certain information via our question in the enclosure of our reference memorandum April 17, 1984.

We are told that the PM (D'. Houston) transmitted our questions to the licensee on April 27, 1984 by telex.

In order to expedite the evaluation of this program, PSB also initiated a telephone conference with the licensee to establish their plan and schedule for their response.

The promised dates continue to slip while we are being pressed to complete our review. At present we have no firm commitment from the licensee when the requested information will be available for our review.

In order to complete our. review, answers to these questions are necessary.

Additional information may be necessary as the review proceeds and depending on the adequacy of their response to our questions.

PSB will proceed with the review and evaluation of MP&L's proposed enhancement of ac power supplies as soon as the requested information becomes available.

PSB discussed this situation with the project manager and the Branch Chief.
