EXPOSED CONDUIT REVIEW During the-period 28,913 lbs of exposed conduit was installed. Starting with the new reporting period (10-30-78 for FEC) installation costs and quantities for conduit hangers and conduit will be recorded separately in an effort to provide. data to appraise installation costs. In addition, additional quantities of conduit and conduit hangers and related costs resulting from S&L drawing revisions or DDC's will be isolated to better pin point quantity increases. i 4 r .,m

F-U HANGERS-LARGE BORE-SECOND SHIFT-A total of 232 large bore. hangers were installed on the second shift. The first shift installed 96 hangers. There was a total of 12,223 manhours charged to hangers on the second shift.- Of the total manhours 2,831 or 23.2% were charged to rework. . Productivity was poor for the month. The composite Job Factor was 1.254. .One reason for the high job factor was that hangers were installed on many ' systems,;and in all buildings. As of October 24th there were figg, large bore hangers (excluding siesmic t restraints) remaining to be.in Ts alled. Of the total, 458 hangers are located in the Reactor Bldg. and of the 240 remaining hangers 109 are for -the R.B. Closed Water Cooling System (WR) located in the A.B. The unit cost for work located in the Reactor Buidling has been above the average i for similar work located in the balance of plant. Since the estimate is based on the average of all hangers the job factor for work in the Reactor Bldg. is likely to remain above one. There are 60 hangers partially p! - installed, and cannot be completed until S&L completes the design work. -This problem to some extent contributes to the high job factor. ] REACTOR BUILDING SMALL BORE PIPE Unfortunately, productivity dropped substantially this month to a composite 4 j. Job Factor for Small Bore Pipe in the Reactor Building of 1.34. Carbon Steel .had the best Job Factor of the group with 1.27,,*ollowed by Stainless Steel at 1.32 and Copper at a poor third place of 4.50 (for the 139 L.F. installed). This-month's Job Factor brings the cumulative Productivity Factor over the 4 life of the program to 0.997 which expends the savings that the program made in the previous months. The trend of Spent Manhours since August shows a steady decline to almost one-half of those used in August. This compounds i the problem further because now a small number of people are doing more E complex work without the relief of others working bulk. This trend appears that it will continue in the Reactor Building. ' Problems have arisen in all areas of Reactor Building Small Bore Pipe installation. Work on " hop-skip" items was at an all time high with much time being spent on 2 to 4 hour tasks such as Punchlist items, N/R's, Surveillence Reports, FDDR's and FDI's. In instrumentation alone over 30 different systems were worked in one week. The structura.l_s. teel. work in the_ Containment as well ~ ~ asAta11ation of the Mairt$leam Re1Tef3alves.have._ caused 1.6gTstTc~a~hd congest 1WpT6bTims Wch_has impacted.the installation.of.CM, IN,_ and. RR -;F M5tems7e~se~ systems have pipe which is hangisg but not welded out due to ~ missisilinks, thereby causing physical progress to drop because it cannot be reported. The IN System has the additional problem of frequent design welds on the average of one weld per l'3" of pipe. Some fabrication of stainless steel pipe was done this month accounting for higher cost units.but has since been stopped. On Carbon Steel, 28% of spent manhours were used on pipe which produced very little or no footage, thereby causing the Job Factor to be high.
