SUMMARY

The unusually late and mild winter has allowed the project to (1

maintain 'he momentum of the summer effort and consequently important t

schedule improvements have been achieved in most work areas.

The major project objective for 1979 was realized during the I

month of December.

In general, the upper elevation wa'11s and roofs of all buildings were completed such that all project work areas are now enclosed from the weather and heated.

CONTAINMENT The first prefabricated section of the containment dome was set in plate during November and welding at the spring line wan completed the first week of December.

The prefabricated second section of the containment dome had temporary support lugs and

seal plates attached on the ground in early December and was. set in place to effect temporary weather protection for the containment

~just prior to Christmas.

The reactor pressure vessel shroud has been installed and aligned.

The core plate should be i$ stalled into the reactor pressure vessel during the month of January.

The drywell overhead liner plate is in place and.in the process' of being aligned and welded.

welding is completed.

The lower elevations of the containment pool liners have been set and rebar crection has commenced outside of the liners.

Construction of walls to the top of the main steam tunnel is continuing and will be poured out up to elevation 803 s

by the end of December.

Erection of structural steel platforms and the drywell annulus continues as structural steel is received on site.

Erection and rough setting of reactor recirculation pipe con tinue.s. -

The construction of cantilevere'd slabs and walls outside the drywell continues with the completion of walls at 270 degree azimuth up to elevation 789 feet.

The reactor water cleanup

' backwash tank is set and this slab is completed.

FUEL BUILDING Construction of the ground floor slab at elevation 737 feet was completed this month.

The installation of reinforcing steel

and the placement of concrete for the walls around the lower fuel

]j pool liners continues and this work should be completed during the month of January.

Temporary weather protection has been erected so that the slab at elevation 755 feet can continue to work through i

the winter weather.

Shoring removal in the lower elevation.s continues to support cable pulls to the screenhouse which must commence this Spring.

Process pipe erection is continuing and.is L

Placement of concrete for the roof slab 'at elevition 800 was completed this month, 'six weeks ahead of schedule. 'The area over

The three RHR pumps, two suppression pool cleanup pumps, w-two floor-drain pumps and the RCIC pump turbine were all set in place during this report period.

The instal.lation of large bore piping continues 't the first a

three elevations and.is 18%, 10%, and 3% complete,'r~espectively.

Cable tray erection is substantially complete in the basement.

'Switchgear foundation rails are complete at elevation 762 and the switchgear should be set in January.

Installation of nonmsegregated but has begun.

TURBINE BUILDING The high bay structural steel for the turbine generator room was completed this month.

.Ninety-five percent of'the siding liner sheets were installed during this period and the corrugated roof decking was completed with the exception of construction openings,.

i Erection of large bore pipe continues in this building and is

, currently one week ahead of schedule.

Small bore pipe erection continues and is currently 9% complete for both elevations.712 and,

737 feet.

Cable tray erection continues and is ahead of schedule on all elevations.

Conduit erection is four weeks ahead of schedule

CONTROL BUILDING Concrete has been placed for the final roof at elevation 847 feet and bituminous built-up roofing is being installed.

This p-activity was completed four months ahead of schedule.

Large bore pipe erection continues on the first five floors of this building

-and is ahead of schedule on every floor.

Cable tray erection is in progress for the first four ele-vations and is two weeks ahead of schedule.

Seismic _ cable tray hangers are being installed in the cable spreading room., Conduit installation is now 28% complete at' elevation 702.

This activity is ahead of schedule.

Termination cabinets for the control room have been. received'.-

and hoisted up to the control room floor.

DIESEL GENERATOR BUILDING

. Concrete was placed for the final roof deck'of this building during December - two months ahead of schedule.

Large bore pipe erection continues and is presently.50%

complete below the ground floor elevation and 19% complete at ele-

'vation 737 feet.

Conduit install'ation continues at elevation 719 feet.

Cable tray installation continues at the first ihree ele-

=v vations of this building and is currently six weeks ahead of schedule.

Conduit erection is 16%_ complete at elevation.702 feet and 3% complete at 719 feet.

-w Elevation 762 feet is being cleaned up and made ready fo'r piping and electrical operations to begin in support of early system start-up requirements.

SCREENHOUSE Installation of siding and precast roof decking,was completed during this report period to accomplish the isolation of the remaining screenhouse work from the weather.

Bituminous roofing was also completed during December.

Erection of large bore piping is 45% complete and six weeks ahead of schedule.

The 5,500 HP circulating ~ water pumps'and motors were set during this report period.

YARD Structural steel erection for the service building vestibule was completed and erection of support steel for the. nonsegregated bus is in progress.

Erection of structural steel for the iso-phase bus is completed as far as possible until the condenser' tubing monorail is removed in the Spring.
