Dear Mr. DeYoung:

By a notice dated March 20, 1984, you transmitted to the Applicant " Notice of Violation and Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalties, Docket No. 50-220, License No. DPR-63, EA No.83-137 and Docket No. 50-410" and the notice provided, inter alia, that pursuant to the provisions of 10 C.F.R. 510.201, the Applicant should submit.its response to your office within thirty days of the date of the notice. . Your letter also specified that consideration may be given to extending the response time for good cause shown.

The purpose of this letter is to request that'the i time for the response to the notice be extended for fifteen days until May 4,.1984, for the following reasons:

As you know, your staff has been engaged in the inspections and in the preparation of the CAT Report for several months. Your letter requests a full response to much of the material encompassed by the CAT Report, as well as the specific alleged violations.

The Applicant has been working diligently to[ develop the specific information to include in its reply and to verify various information3 While we have the basic data in hand, we will not be able to have it in.as' comprehensive and responsive form as we would wish by April 19.
