The: purpose of this-letter is to follow up on and document a discussion in ourl meeting-on January 16, 1990. The. subject of that discussion was.'short b -term loads on the emergency diesel generators,'specifically, motor operated valves.-
k; UThe' electrical' loads associated with motor operated valves are ng_t; included-1 in q the overall' diesel generator . loading.
'This-is because the loads'are-ienergized .only 'for a short duration,- usually less than .one- minute. .
-~ Additionally, these -_are small = loads, less than150 kw: total', - and - do not
, ?significantly affect the overall diesel' loading.o
- These loads arg included in the transient. calculations donetto determine the-
_ voltage and= frequency response of the machines to the block loading ' sequence.
