l-Florida. Power Corporation (FPC) is submitting this letter to provide the current status of Regulatory Guide 1.97. activities.

The two Regulatory Guide 1.97 items identified in Reference A have been completed.

These items are the Pressurizer Heater Status Indication and the Main Steam Safety / Relief Valve Position Indications.

In Reference B, FPC stated that HPI flow had been redesignated to i

be a Type A variable in accordance with-Regulatory Guide 1.97.

i Reference C subsequently described FPC's approach and schedule to

. meet Regulatory Guide 1.97 guidance for this instrumentation.

The action to upgrade the 0-200 gpm indicators, to meet safety-related criteria-with the exception of redundancy, was completed in Refuel 7 consistent with Reference'C, Item 5.

The.only outstanding action is to complete the modifications to the HPI flow indication, as described in Reference C, Item 6, during l

Refuel 8.

FPC will submit a complete set of revised Regulatory Guide 1.97 variable data sheets by December 31, 1990. The revised data sheets will reflect completion of modifications and operating procedure changes.
