Dear Mr. Grazio:
By letter dated June 19,1998, I approved your May 21,1998, request for exception to 10 CFR 50.4 (b)(6) allowing you to submit the original and two paper copies and 10 CD-ROM copies of updates to the Crystal River Unit 3 Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR) pursuant to 10 CFR 50.4 (c). This letter modifies that approval and, hereby, grants Florida Power Corporation (FPC) approval to submit the original and one paper copy and 6 CD-ROM copies of
- future updates to the FSAR as follows: the signed original, one paper copy, and four CD-ROM copies to the Document Control Desk, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington DC 20555-0001, one CD-ROM copy to the appropriate Regional Administrator, and one CD-ROM copy to the Senior Resident inspector.
For your information, the NRC is promoting Electronic Information Exchange (ele) and is preparing an Administrative Letter that will allow licensees to submit only the signed original and one CD-ROM copy to meet 10 CFR Part 50 submittal requirements. NRC anticipates issuing the Administrative Letter in October 1999. The guidance contained in that Administrative Letter will supersede this exception and will allow licensees to submit documents electronically without prior NRC approval.
The NRC reserves the right to modify or rescind this exception upon written notification. Please contact Keith R. Shaw of my staff if you have any questions or require additional information.
