-Monthly Summary

-STPECS Unit 1. began the reporting period at.100% reactor power. A Notification of Unusual Event (NOUE) was declared at 1710 on 1/3/90 when a Feedwater Isolation Valve (WIV) failed to operate. as- required _during-

surveillance testing. The generator was taken off line at 2224 and reactor power
was reduced to 6%. The WIV was closed and the NOUE was exited at 2234. Repairs  !

-were made and testing was performed' satisfactorily. The unit was returned to

[

service on 1/7/90 at 0248 and restored to 1004-reactor power on 1/8/90 at 0405.

On 1/26/90 reactor power was reduced to approximately 904 to perform Nuclear

-Instrumentation Calibration and Turbine Control Valve Testing.- The unit was

  • returned to 1004 reactor power on 1/27/90.

F The report period was concluded with the unit at 100% reactor power.

The-valve will remain isolated until the turbine reaches 1800 RPM and the exciter temperature reaches the point of requiring cooling.
