Monthly Sn==ary STPEGS Unit 1 began the reporting period at -954 reactor power completing maintenance on a feedwater pump.

Reactor power was restored to 100% on 11/5/89 at 0500. On 11/19/89 at 0156 a Notification of Unusual Event ( NOUE ) was declared due to the initiation of a Technical Specification required shutdown when the allowed out of service time for the Train A Essential Cooiling Water system was exceeded. Train "A" was restored to service and the NOUE was terminated at 0323. No reduction in reactor power was required.

The unit concluded the reporting period at 100% reactor power, i

Monthly Summary STPEGS Unit 2 began the reporting period at 100% power.

On 11/04/89 the unit was shutdown for Bottom Mounted Instrumentation and Turbine Inspections.

At -1000 on 11/28/89 Diesel Generator #22 was at full load during the performance of its 24 hour2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> load test when it tripped with no indication of unit shutdown, Pieces of the 4L and 4R pistons and connecting rod had besn thrown from the engine along with other pieces of metal. Tbo impact of this event will exter.d the current planned outage.

The unit ccncluded the report period shutdown for Bottom Mounted Instrumentation and Turbine Inspections.
