Exercise of the Offsite Radiological Emergency i Preparedt.ess (REP) Plans for the Beaver Valley Power Station Attached is a copy of the exercise report for the October 25,

! 1988, joint exercise of the offsite REP plans for the Ohio  ;

portions of the Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) for the Beaver -

Valley Power Station. The State of Ohio and Columbiana County '

participated in the exercise for that portion of the plume exposure pathway EPZ which is within Region V of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The report, dated September 22, 1989, wat prepared by FEMA Region V and transmitted to FEMA ,

Headquarters on September 22, 1989.

There were no offsite deficiencies identified during the Beaver Yalley Power Station exercise. The State of Ohio was provided with a draft copy of the report dated March 7, 1989. The State submitted a schedule of corrective actions on April 17, 1989, which is included in the exercise report.

Based on the results of the exercise, FEMA considers offsite emergency preparedness adequate to provide reasonable assurance that appropriate meas 'es can be taken offsite to protect the health and safety of the public living in Ohio in the vicinity of the site in the event of a radiological emergency. Therefore, ,

the approval under FEMA Rule 44 CFR 350 on June 5, 1987 will remain in effect.
