{EIIS-ZI} for shutdown banks A and Band control banks A, B, and c indicated 28 steps below the control rod group demand counter position {EIIS-CTR}. Control Bank D indicated 26 steps below its control rod group demand counter position.

The IRPis were declared inoperable in accordance with Technical Specifications 3.12.E. The IRPis were returned to service at 1524 hours0.0176 days <br />0.423 hours <br />0.00252 weeks <br />5.79882e-4 months <br />.

Instrument Technicians determined that the DC power supply contacts to the Rod Position Indication Cabinet were dirty.

The contacts for the DC power supply were cleaned, and the IRPI indication*returned to the proper position.

2.0 Safety Consequences and Implications IRPI provides control rod position indication in the Main Control Room. The Control Rod Demand Counters which indicate control rod po_sition as demanded by the Rod Control System, remained operable during the time that IRPis were not operable.

Inoperable IRPis will not affect the operation of the Control Rod Assemblies {EIIS-ROD} and all rods were capable of being dropped if required. Therefore, this event did not constitute an unreviewed safety question and the health and safety of the public were not affected.

3.0 Cause Instrument Technicians determined that the DC power supply contacts to the Rod Position Indication Cabinet were dirty.

4.0 Inunediate Corrective Actions The contacts for the DC power supply were cleaned, and the IRPI indication returned to the proper position.
