Salem WEKO seal relief request RAI Date: Thursday, September 05, 2013 1:38:00 PM By letter dated April 3, 2013, (Agencywide Documents and Access Management System Accession No. ML13093A382) as supplemented on August 15, 2013, (ADAMS Accession No. ML13227A338) PSEG Nuclear LLC requested Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) approval of proposed relief request SC-14R-133 for Salem Generating Station, Units 1 and 2. The proposed relief will allow Salem to repair bell-and-spigot joints in the buried portions of Service Water System piping in lieu of defect removal requirements in the ASME Code,Section XI, IWA-4422.1. To complete its review, the NRC staff requests additional information as noted below:

How often is the service water piping discussed in the Relief Request SC-I4R-133 inspected as part of routine inspections?

Are the service water piping inspections performed by visual examinations?
