RE: New NCR Categories: Perform Review Anthony; Some of your question has been asked before and, although not asked by the SIT, some has been addressed by the Progress Energy De-lamination project team. My conversation with Paul produced the following info.

You are correct that initially (during hydro lazing) the crack (de-lamination) got more pronounced. The de-lamination has been monitored since November using strain gages which are monitored on a weekly basis, IR scans and core bores.

There has been no indication of growth since that time. Also there plans call for monitoring by strain gages and acoustic monitoring during the de-tensioning process plus they will inspect the core bores to check for any changes. In addition they plan to perform IRscans at various times during de-tensioning.

Ithink this addresses your concerns presented below. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

RE: New NCR Ok. Thanks. Please let me know ASAP as to my on-site needs.

Lou - I have a question you may be able to pose (if someone hasn't already asked previously) while you are there.

The NDE and borings were completed some time ago. Since one possible idea is that this delamination and crack has propagated and gotten more pronounced from the first couple of days the opening was made, are there any plans to do any additional NDE or borings to re-confirm the condition is still the same as shown previously during the past NDE/borings? It seems to me that if it is believed that the delamination widened and is shown from pictures taken immediately after the cut until the current condition, that there may also be changes made since the NDE/borings were completed as to the width of the delam and possibly even the total size or area affected. Do their detensioning plans include any monitoring or verification of the delaminated condition and size?
