Background Information !or the Partial Site Release Request
- Mark, We are trying to find some supportive radiological background information for our review of the partial site release request. Below is the description of what we are looking for. The data may either be CR..:3 information or from other (FL) sources. Let me know if you believe you can support this request.

- 1.. Information is requested on the range of cesium-137 concentrations in local and regional soils before c;1nd after the atmospheric releases of radionuclides from the Fukushima Dai-ichi accident in March 2011.
- Information is not limited to data collected by the licensee.
- Information sources could include data and reports from the State of Florida Bureau of Radiat.iori Control, other nuclear power plants in Florida, academic articles, and reports or articles published by State or Federal agencies.
- Historical information on the variability of cesium-1.37 in Florida soils would be useful.
- 2. Information is requested on 1?levated cesium~137 levels in local crops and vegetative matter, as a result of atmospheric fallout from the Fukushima Dai-ichi accident. This information could include: .
- ..A summary of REMP information from CR-3
- Information from other sources, such as Florida Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida universities, other nuclear power plants in Florida, etc.
- 3. If the response to 1 or 2 above includes CR-3 data please include information on your soil sampling protocol, as it pertains to the treatment of organic material. This information could include:
- A summary of sample collection and laboratory analysis methods for soil.
- . The licensee should state how organic matter is handled in soil samples it collects as part of its environmental monitoring program.
Please clarify whether organic material is separated (not included) in soil samples collected in the field Please provide information on laboratory procedures for processing soil samples if organic matter is included in a soil sample.
- Information could include a copy of the soil sample co.llection and laboratory analyses (SOP) methods for cesium-137.
