SUMMARY

OF THE AUGUST 8, 2007, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE DAVIS-BESSE END-OF-CYCLE PLANT PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On August 8, 2007, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Davis-Besse Energy Education Center in Oak Harbor, Ohio. The meeting was between NRC Region III management and FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) management to discuss the NRCs assessment of Davis-Besse Nuclear Plant's safety performance for the period from January 1 through December 31, 2006. The meeting notice, NRC presentation, and licensee presentation can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) as ML071980196, ML072220189, and ML072220198, respectively. A list of principal NRC and licensee meeting participants is attached to this letter.

The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the Reactor Oversight Program (ROP),

national ROP results, and the Action Matrix in general. This was followed by a discussion of the NRCs assessment of the Davis-Besse plants performance in calendar year 2006, which was documented in the March 2, 2007, end-of-cycle assessment letter. As part of this regulatory performance meeting, FENOC acknowledged the results and presented a summary of the Davis-Besse plants accomplishments and current focus areas. At the end of the meeting, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials and FENOC representatives.
