This confirms the telephone conversation between Mr. F. Rhodes of your staff and myself on September 22 concerning the enforcement conference originally scheduled for September 25. As noted in our conversation, your security staff and our security specialists have discussed the issue which was to be addressed at the enforcement conference.
Since our staffs have mutually agreed that an enforcement conference is not necessary, we have decided to cancel the conference.
We will proceed with our evaluation of the potential vie 10 tion as documented in our NRC Inspection Report 50-482/87-16, dated September 15, 1987. Our determination of the appropriate enforcement option to be applied in this case will be based on the facts contained in that report and the discussions between our security staffs.
If you have any comments or questions regarding this issue, we would be pleased to discuss them, but no specific request to this letter is required.
