FEB 211986 Duke Power Company (ATTN:
Mr. H. B. Tucker, Vice President Nuclear Production Department 422 South Church Street
. Charlotte, NC 28242 Gentlemen:
SUBJECT:
REPORT NOS. 50-369/35-39 AND 50-370/85-40 Thank you for your response of January 3,1986, to our Notice of Deviation, issued on December 4, 1985, concerning activities conducted at your McGuire facility.
We have evaluated your response and found that it meets the requirements of 10 CFR 2.201.
The above mentioned Notice of Deviation cited your failure to conduct air-aerosol uniformity tests as specified in Section 6.4.3, Table 6.2.3-4 of the McGuire FSAR. Your response detailed testing conducted to meet the FSAR requirements and reasons for the deviation. Also your response stated that further deviations will be avoided through an awareness of FSAR commitments.
It is our position that the response statement, "through awareness of_ FSAR commitments further deviations will be avoided," did not provide sufficient detail to determine that your actions are sufficient to assure future compliance.
Therefore, you should provide a supplemental response outlining how awareness of FSAR commitments regarding ventilation systems will be improved.
We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
Sincerly, Virgil L. Brownlee, Chief Reactor Projects Branch 3 Division of Reactor Projects cc: pT. L. McConnell, Station Manager bec: /RCResidentInspector Document Control Desk State of North Carolina
