30703 Exit Interview The inspector met with the licensee personnel listed in Paragraph 1 at the conclusion of the inspection on June 20, 1986.
At that time, the purpose, scope, and findings of the inspection were presented.
Written material was not provided to the licensee by the inspector at any time during the inspection.

Inspector Follow-up Item 85-15-01:
The inspector observed that the configuration of the search equipment at the plant employees'ntrance had been changed to enable the guard on duty to observe articles placed on the table adjacent to the metal detector and also to observe the x-ray monitor.
(Closed) Inspector Follow-up Item 85-15-02:
The inspector observed that vehicles entering the protected area are searched immediately prior to entry into the protected area and remain under surveillance until entry is complete.

Inspector Follow-up Item 85-15-03:
The inspector noted that a
faulty sensor module for a zone in the perimeter intrusion detection system had been replaced.
All perimeter intrusion detection system zones were being tested and calibrated at the time of the inspection.

Inspector Follow-up Item 85-21-01:
The inspector was informed that the general employee training was modified to place increased em-phasis on restrictions to approaching the protected area barrier.

The inspector noted that the frequency of testing the perimeter intrusion detection system was in-creased until April 2, 1986.
The licensee then began following a proce-dure for systematically testing different segments of the perimeter alarm system on a prescribed frequency. All segments are tested within a seven day perio l l

81010 Securit Plan and Im 1ementin Procedures The inspector reviewed the security plan and implementing procediues.
The procedures were adequate and appropriate to implement the NRC-aggmved security plan.

81034 Securit Pro ram Audit The licensee's Safety Review and Audit Board (SRAB) performed a> <<zepre-hensive audit of the Nine Mile Point 1 security program on Auguakt19-23, 1985.
The inspector noted that the recommendations for program enHance-ments contained in the audit report were acted upon by the lice~ and were effective.

The inspector noted that the licensee's dedicated security test:wg and maintenance section is well staffed and responds immediately toi security equipment problems based on priorities established by security nmnagement.
A review of the records by the inspector confirmed that the secttiiar is responsive to the needs of the security program.
81052 Ph sical Barriers Protected Area The inspector observed that the licensee maintained the barriem surround-ing the protected area in accordance with the NRC-approved security plan.
The inspector noted, that the licensee was in the process of testing and calibrating each zone of the perimeter intrusion detection system at the time of the inspection.

properly searched for unauthorized material.
The search equipment was functioning properly and is adequate and appropriate for its intended purpos I

Packages and material are examined using x-ray equipment and/or, are visually examined by security personnel.
The search equipment is adequate for its intended use and was functioning properly at the time of the inspection.

81074 Access Control Vehicles The inspector observed that the licensee controlled access of vehicles entering the protected area in accordance with the NRC-approved security plan and implementing procedures.

81601 Securit Contin enc Plan Im lementation Review The inspector ascertained that the licensee's program for responding to security threats and other contingencies, as outlined in the NRC-approved safeguards security plan, was adequate.
The inspector reviewed documen-tation of licensee conducted contingency plan drills. It was noted by the inspector that the licensee conducted a critique of each dri,ll to identify areas in need of improvement.
