(Seabrook' Station, Unit 1) April 7, 1999 ORDER In CLI-99-06, 49 NRC _ , _ (slip op. at 22 (March 5, 1999)), the Commission directed the parties to this proceeding "to confer promptly on whether their dispute might be settled amicably without conducting a hearing." Pursuant to that direction, the parties have undertaken settlement discussions and, in an April 5, 1999 motion, they now jointly request a ten-day extension of the schedule set forth in CLI-99-06 in order to facilitate their settlement efforts. Specifically, the parties seek the extension so that they may devote their time and energies to the settlement process and avoid interrupting their negotiations to prepara their direct testimony for the proceeding.
