PURPOSE: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) received a license renewal application (LRA) from Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E), dated November 23, 2009, for the renewal of the operating licenses for the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2.

The purpose of these meetings is to discuss the license renewal review process.

Both meetings will be preceded by an informal "open house" beginning one hour prior to each meeting. The open house will provide members of the public with an opportunity to talk informally with NRC staff.

If special accommodations are needed at the public meeting, the need should be brought to the attention of the NRC contacts listed above no later than February 3, 2010, to provide time for the NRC staff to accommodate the request.

The agenda for the meeting is enclosed. The LRA and information on the license renewal process are available on the NRC web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reactors/operating/licensing/renewal.html. PARTICIPANTS: Participants from the NRC include members of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR).
