Intheeventofarctorand'urbinetrip,ttherwithalossofoffsitepower,immediatedecayheatremovaliseffectedviathemainsteamsafetyvalves.Theeightmainsteamsafetyvalveshaveatotalcombinedratedcapabilityof6,580,000lbs/hr.Thiscapabilityexceedsthetotalfullpowersteamflowof6,577,279lbs/hr.Followingreactor/turbinetrip,themotor-drivenauxiliaryfeedwatersystemisautomaticallyinitiatedonlow-lowlevelinonesteamgenerator,aSafetyInjectionsignal,oratripofbothmainfeedwaterpumps.Theturbine-drivenauxiliaryfeedwaterpumpisinitiatedonlow-lowsteamgeneratorlevelinbothsteamgenerators,oralossofpowertoelectricalbuses11Aand11B.Themotor-drivenauxiliaryfeedwatersystemhastwo100-ocapacitypumps,eachnormallyservingonesteamgenerator.Theirsourcesofwaterincludethenormally-alignedbutnon-safety-relatedandnonSeismicCategoryIcondensatestoragetanks,andthesafety-relatedservicewatersystem.Theturbine-drivenauxiliaryfeedwatersystemconsistsofone200:capacitypump,twosteamsupplyflowpaths(onefromeachsteamgenerator),anormalsourceofwaterfromthenon-safety-relatedcondensatestoragetanks,and.abackupsourceofwaterfromthesafety-related.servicewatersystem."'heGinnaStationaccidentanalyses'assume200gpmisdeliveredtoanoperablesteamgenerator,inordertoremovetherequireddecayheat.Thecombinationofmotor-drivenandturbine-drivenauxiliaryfeedwaterpumpsassuresoperabilityofthesystemtomeettheserequirements,evenassumingasinglefailure.Intheeventofahighenergylinebreakoutsidecontainment,'theoperabilityofthemotor-drivenandturbine-drivenauxiliaryfeedwatersystemscannotbeensured,sincethesystemsarenotqualifiedfortheensuingharshenvironment.Thestandbyauxiliaryfeedwatersystem,whichconsistsoftworedundantpumps,adischargeflowpathtoeachsteamgeneratorandsuctionfrombothloopsofthesafety-related.servicewatersystem,performsthisfunction.OperatoractionfromthecontrolroomisrequiredtoeffectoperationoftheSAFWsystem.Theworst-caseanalysis,afeedwaterlinebreak,'hasbeenperformed,andtheconsequenceswerefoundtobeacceptable.Theminimumamountofwaterinthecondensatestoragetanksistheamountneededtoremovedecayheatfor2hoursafterreactortripfromfullpower.'Anunlimitedsourceforauxiliaryfeedwaterisavailableusingthesafety-relatedservicewatersystem.
