Omaha Public Power District 1623 Harney Omaha Nebraska 68102 402/536-4000 May 4, 1984 LIC-84-132 Mr. James R. Miller, Chief U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Division of Licensing Operating Reactors Branch No. 3 Washington, D.C. 20555

Docket No. 50-285

Dear Mr. Miller:

Adequacy of Station Electrical Distribution System Voltages Based upon a telephone conversation held between Mr. E. Tourigny and Mr. J. Enami of your staff; Mr. A. Udy of EG&G; and Mr. J.

Fisicaro, Mr. R. Mehaffey, and Mr. M. Prawl of the District, it was determined that the District's December 19, 1983 letter con-cerning the subject requires additional information in order to clarify the District's intent.

The District's December 19, 1983 response to item 1, paragraph 2, contained a statement concerning operation of the condensate and feedwater pumps during accident conditions. It was not the intent of this response to imply that these pumps would be operating during accident conditions, simply that their operation could oc-l cur. The operation of these pumps is improbable, but not impossi-

ble. More correctly, the sentence should read: "Specifically, l the condensate and feedwater pumps which when operating in the re-circulation mode, as they would be if operated during accident con-ditions, require 70% and 63% of their motor horsepower, respective-ly." This should serve to clarify the District's intent and re-l solve the concern regarding this statement.
