SUBJECT: NRC ROUTINE, ANNOUNCED INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-182/99-201

Dear Mr. Bean:

This refers to the inspection conducted on April 12-15,1999 at the Purdue University

PUR-1 research reactor. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.

Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report. Within these areas, the

inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records,

interviews with personnel, and observations of activities in progress.

Easad on the results of this inspection, no noncompliance of NRC requirements was

identified. No response to this letter is required. Material conditions have improved

'significantly since the last inspection.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's ". Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter

and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Fublic Document Room.
