Proposed Changes to APPENDIX A FACILITY LICENSE NO. R-87 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS for the PUROUE UNIVERSITY REACTOR DOCKET N0. 50-182 Change No. 1 - page 18. Specification 4.la and 4.lb.

It is proposed to change in part a, the interval for measuring the shim-safety rod reactivity worths and calculating the shut down margin be changed from 14 months to 15 months.

It is also proposed to change in part b, the interval for visually inspecting the shim-safety rods be changed from 14 months to 15 months.

Justification for these changes:

These changes will bring these surveillance intervals into agreement with the intervals in the rest of the technical specifications.

Change No. 2 - page 25. Specification 5.2.1, 5.2.2, and 5.2.3 In part 5.2.1 it is proposed to delete the reference to enrichment in the U-235 isotope, for the fuel used in the PUR-I reactor.

It is also proposed to delete, in sections 5.2.2 and 5.2.3, any reference to the amount of the U-235 isotope in each type of fuel assembly.

Justification for these changes:

By deleting the reference to a specific enrichment, and the amount of fuel in each type of assembly, the anticipated changes to low en-riched uranium will be accomplished more easily. New safety analysis studies of the performance of the new fuel would performed and submitted to the NRC before any new fuel would be installed. No significant change that would compromise the safety of the reactor, the environment, or the general public is anticipated.
