Florida Power & Light (FP&L) continues with a corporate cost reduction ,

program, including their Nuclear Division. A portion of this program includes a staffing reduction at Turkey Point, at St. Lucie, and at the Juno Beach Corporate Offices. Effective today (10/01/93), the staffing reductions are being announced. FP&L approved the numbers and names of the layoffs late last night using a special review committee.

, ,The affected Nuclear Division personnel are being notified today. .These-personnel (FP&L and Contractor personnel) will be allowed to collect their personal belongings and then will be escorted offsite by security.

The people will also have their security badge pulled. This layoff includes 80 personnel at Turkey Point and 49 at St. Lucie, none of which  ;

were licensed operators. The breakdown includes FP&L people who accepted an early retirement package.

The licensee intends to make a press release. There has been some media ,

interest. '
