In letters dated November 4,1983, Augast 22, 1985 and May 4.1987 [ References (c),

(d) and (f)], PSNil provided iaformation to the NRC in response to item 2.1 of Generic Letter 83 28. Additionally, in letters dated June 27, 1986 and July 13,1990, l References (e) and (g)l, New llampshire Yankee (NHY) summarized the status of all information submitted to the NRC in response to Generie Letter 83 28.

In rer.pecm to an NRC Staff request of August 27, 1991, the following information is provided.

Generic Letter 83-28. Item 21 (Part 1) in a letter dated November 4,1983 [ Reference (c)], PSNil committed to complete the identification of reactor trip system components as safety related items in appropriate documents three months prior to initial fuel load of Seabrook Station. In a letter dated August 22,1985, [ Reference (d)], PSNil confirmed that Seabrook Station reactor trip system components had been identified and classified as safety related in design documents, operating procedures, maintenance procedures and controlled engiucering lists.

On page 151 of Supplement No. 6 to the " Safety Evaluation Report related to the operation of Seabrook Station, Units 1 and 2" (SSER), the NRC discussed its finding that PSNH had an acceptable program for identifying, classifying, and treating as safety related, components that are required for the performance of the reactor trip function. Supplement No. 6 to the SSER was dated October 1986 and transmitted to PSN!! via an Octobei 29, '

In the November 4,1983 letter [ Reference (c)], PSNH described the administrative and quality assurance program requirements for the use of vendor information applicable to reactor trip system components, in response to a March 3,1987 NRC request, NilY provided additional information in a letter dated May 4,1987 (Reference (f)]. The May 4, 1987 !ctter stated that the Seabrook reactor trip system is included in the Westinghouse Interface Program. This !ctter described the internal handling process for Westinghouse.

supplied Technical Bulletins- that affect safety-related equipiaent and for correspondence issued by the Westinghouse Owners Group (WOG) including proposals and recommendations associated with reactor trip system coaponents.

On pages 151 and 15 2 of Supt.lement No. 8 to the SSER, the NRC discusstd its finding that PSNil had an acceptable NSSS vendor interface program for components that are required for performance of the reactor trip function. Supplement No. 8 to the SSER was dated May 1989 and transmitted to PSNII via letter dated . lune 9,1989 [ Reference (i)].

On March 20, 1990, the NRC issued Generic Letter 90 03 which re-defined the recommended programs for technical interface between licensees and vendors of safety-related equipment. In a letter dated October 2,1990 [ Reference (j)], N11Y responded to Generic Letter 90-03. This response contains further information regarding the NilY technical interface program with Westinghouse, the NSSS vendor for Scabrook Station.
