We will remedy the problem before shipment and have no other basic components supplied, so we do not have a reportable condition under 10 CFil Part 21. Nevertheless, we are bringing the problem to your attention.

We ordered ASME SA-193117 bolts for safety related steam generatur internals as commercial grade items from Process Products Ltd., 920 Caledonia Ild., Toronto, Ontario, a distributor; who in turn procured the bolts from Cardinal Fastener and Specialty Co. Inc.,5185 llichmond Ild., lledford lleights, Oil 44146.

During testing, as part of commercial grade dedication,8 of 20 bolts showed hardness levels approximately half of the expected value for this material specification.

Subsequent chemical analpis showed the bolts with low hardness do not meet the chemistry of SA-193117. We are replacing all of the bolts.

Discussions with the distributor and original supplier showed that the material mix-up occurred at Cardinal Fastener and Specialty Co. Inc. They are taking action to resolve the causes of this problem.

If you require any further information, please contact me.

Yours truly llAllCOCK & WILCOX
