SUMMARY

The plant entered the reporting period at 100 percent core thermal power (CTP) until December 14 at 2030 hours0.0235 days
0.564 hours
0.00336 weeks
7.72415e-4 months
when a power reduction to approximately 55 percent CTP was commenced to perform a condenser thermal backwash. Reactor power was restored to 100 percent CTP on December 16 at 0637 hours0.00737 days
0.177 hours
0.00105 weeks
2.423785e-4 months
. A power reduction was commenced on December 17 at 1147 hours0.0133 days
0.319 hours
0.0019 weeks
4.364335e-4 months
to perform a control rod pattern adjustment. Reactor power was restored to 100 percent CTP at 2010 hours0.0233 days
0.558 hours
0.00332 weeks
7.64805e-4 months
where it was maintained until an automatic reactor scram occurred on December 27 at 1321 hours0.0153 days
0.367 hours
0.00218 weeks
5.026405e-4 months
. The plant automatically shut down when an unexpected trip of both reactor recirculation pumps occurred during a routine surveillance test of the Anticipated Transient Without Scram (ATWS) circuitry. The trip was apparently due to a mechanical failure of a test switch within the ATWS actuation logic. The reactor was made critical on December 30 at 1014 hours0.0117 days
0.282 hours
0.00168 weeks
3.85827e-4 months
, and was synchronized to the grid on December 30 at 2303 hours0.0267 days
0.64 hours
0.00381 weeks
8.762915e-4 months
. At the end of the reporting period, the reactor was at approximately 95 percent CTP.
