Request for Additional Information Regarding Section 5.7 Environmental Considerations

1. Section 5.7 of the license amendment request states that, "The original environmental evaluations were conducted at 3216.5 MWt (AEC SER dated 10/19/1970)." Is this statement correct?

2. Section 5.7 of the license amendment request states that no environmental impact statement or environmental evaluation was required for the 1990 power uprate. The staff published on December 6, 1989, in the Federal Register (54 FR 50459), an environmental assessment for the March 3, 1990, power uprate. Please correct this statement.

3. In order to evaluate the statement in Section 5.7, that the current power uprate qualifies for a categorical exclusion under 10 CFR 51.22(c)(9), please provide the environmental evaluation performed for the requested power uprate in accordance with Appendix B of facility operating license. In your response be sure to discuss the radiological and non-radiological impacts of the proposed power uprate.
