Dear Mr. Keppler:

Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) has not yet con-tracted for the purchase of the Emergency Diesel Generators for Bailly Generating Station Nuclear I.

Work cn N1PSCO's Bailly Generating Station Nuclear I is presently halted, pendhg completion of NRC review of NIPSCO pile placement methodology. There will be no additional procurement of components or material until pile placement is resumed.

However, we have advised our Consulting Engineers of the design error in the emergency diesel generators at the Florida Power and Light Com-pany's Turkey Point facility and advised them to take all action necessary to avoid such errors on the Bailly Ciesel generator design.
