Dear Mr. Plaine:

On June'4, 1982, Business and Professional People for the Public Interest ("BPI") submitted an Applica-tion for Award of Fees and Expenses Under the Equal Access to Jus tice Act, with supporting memorandun and affidavits. On August 6, 1982, the Commission entered an Order holding BPI's application in abeyance, until the General Counsel received advice from the Comptroller General of the United States regarding certain issues raised in that Order. Leonard Bickwit, Jr.,

then General Counsel to the NRC, sent a letter to the Comptroller General that same day seeking certain advice.

BPI has not been notified of any developments l with respect to our pending fee application since j that date. Accordingly, would you please advise i

us of the status of our application and how soon we may expect a determination of that application.
