The City of Austin, subject to City Council approval, has reached a tentative agreement to settle with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff and the Department of Justice. This is based on a draft document of proposed license conditions subject to modification. The settlement is contingent on the final wording of the document which still is being drafted. It is anticipated that a final version will be ready by the prehearing conference September 15, 1980. The final version will be submitted to the City Council for formal appreval.

The City of Austin has been actively involved in settlement dis-cussions since the last prehearing conference. Austin was involved in meetings with the NRC staff and/or the Justice Department on the following dates: August 8 and 25, September 3, 4 and 8 and was involved 1.- numerous telephone conversctions with various parties to this proceeding.

drafts of license conditions, it is not possible to have a final l document as of this date. However, Austin is firm in the belief, l p503 5
