SUMMARY

OF THE APRIL 19, 2012, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS NRC ACTIVITIES, NUCLEAR POWER ISSUES, AND THE CLINTON POWER STATION 2011 END-OF-CYCLE PLANT PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On April 19, 2012, a public meeting was held at the Clinton Elks Lodge, Clinton, Illinois, between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Clinton Station management and staff. The purpose of the public meeting was to provide an opportunity for the public to discuss NRC activities, nuclear power issues, and Clinton Power Station performance for the period of January 1, 2011, through December 31, 2011. The NRC letter and meeting notice for this public meeting can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) as ML12093A384 and ML12090A564 respectively. A list of the public meeting attendees who signed the attendance sheet is listed below.

The public meeting discussed an overview of the NRCs Mission and Performance Goals, the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP), and national ROP results. Exelon provided brief remarks containing new and existing programs to maintain and/or improve performance. The NRC also discussed the Japan Nuclear incident, the NRCs actions post the Japan incident, and the NRC orders and information request as a result of the incident.

The NRC also provided discussions related to the NRCs assessment of the Clinton Power Station performance, which was documented in the March 5, 2012, End-of-Cycle Assessment Letter (reference ADAMS Accession Number ML12065A023). As part of this public meeting, both Exelon and IEMA were available to address questions and concerns. Slides used to describe the NRC's ROP process and Clinton Power Station 2011 performance can be found in ADAMS under ML12111A128.
