SUMMARY

OF NOVEMBER 5, 2018, PRE-SUBMITTAL MEETING WITH SUSQUEHANNA NUCLEAR, LLC TO DISCUSS A POTENTIAL LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST RE: EMERGENCY SERVICE WATER PIPING REPLACEMENT FOR SUSQUEHANNA STEAM ELECTRIC STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 (EPID L-2018-LRM-0030)

On November 5, 2018, a Category 1 public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives of Susquehanna Nuclear, LLC (the licensee). This was a pre-submittal meeting to discuss a proposed license amendment request regarding emergency service water piping replacement for the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 and 2. The meeting notice and agenda, dated October 23, 2018, are available under Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML18305A412 and are posted on the NRC's public Web page at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

The presentation material provided by the licensee are available under ADAMS Accession No. ML183058058. During the meeting, the licensee presented information regarding the proposed changes for a temporary completion time extension to support emergency service water piping replacement.

The licensee stated that the extension is necessary for one unit to remain online. The extension is proposed to expire in 2026 for Unit 2 and in 2027 for Unit 1. The NRC staff asked several clarifying questions. The licensee stated that comprehensive technical specification page markups will be provided as part of the final submittal of the license amendment request to the NRC. No regulatory decisions were made during the meeting.
