SUBJECT:
SUMMARY
OF APRIL 16, 2008, ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING WITH PPL CORPORATION On April 16, 2008, at 2:30 p.m., an Annual Assessment Meeting was conducted at the Susquehanna Energy Information Center between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and PPL. The NRC requested the meeting with PPL management to discuss the NRC's assessment of the safety performance of the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station (Susquehanna) for calendar year 2007.
The NRC presented and discussed its assessment of the safety performance of Susquehanna Units 1 and 2 for the period between January 1 through December 31, 2007. The NRC presentations included a discussion of the Reactor Oversight Process, inspection activities at Susquehanna during 2007, and performance assessment results. As part of the annual assessment meeting, PPL presented an overview of their performance and initiatives in selected areas.
The public observed the meeting and were offered the opportunity to communicate with the NRC regarding PPL's performance at Susquehanna and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
