CLASSIFICATION AND VENDOR INTERFACE (REACTOR TRIP SYSTEM INTERFACE)
We have confirmed that the reactor trip system components are classified as safety-related.
We have confirmed that the reactor trip system components are classified as safety-related.
The general system for classification of safety-related structures, systems and components is through Appendix A (Attachment 2)to the Ginna Quality Assurance Manual and its referenced color-coded draw-ing.This document contains guidance concerning the designation of safety-related structures, systems and components for the plant. An expanded listing of safety-related items is presently under review and is expected to be finalized by the end of 1983.This revised list will more explicitly contain the reactor trip system and will provide the basis for its inclusion in the documents, procedures and information handling systems used at Ginna to control safety-related activities, including maintenance, design changes and parts replacement.

Administrative procedure A-101 (Attachment 3)indicates in general terms that any activity which affects a safety-related function is controlled by the Quality Assurance program.Administrative procedure A-401 (Attachment 4, figures not included)which addresses procurement activities has been included to demonstrate how the more general procedure has been applied to a more specific area.~The remainder of this section, is answered in the reply to Section 2.2.2.

3~1 Control Room 0 erators 3~1~1 Control Room operating personnel, in addition to submitting a A-25.1"Unusual Event Report", shou3;d prepare a written account of the event. This account is intended to be written from memory and therefore should be written as soon after the event as practical.

Upon completion of the written account it should be forwarded to the Shift Supervisor.

3~2 Shift Technical Advisor 3~2~1 The Shift Technical Advisor shall perform a preliminary assessment of the event. This shall be documented by completion of the supplement to A-25.1"Unusual Event Report." Upon canpletion of the supplement, forward it to the Shi ft Supervisor for inclusion with the A-25.1 Report. The Shift echnical Advisor will also, upon request of the Shift Supervisor, assist with the Shift Supervisor's assessment.

0 A-25.4:2 3'Other Plant Personnel 3~3~1 3.4 3.4.1 Any other plant personnel that are involved with the event (Auxiliary Operators, ISC,Techs, Electricians etc.)should make notes of their activities related to the event. These notes shall be forwarded to the Shift Supervisor.

1.2.1.6 The normal source of power for the computer is three phase power from a static switch, which receives its power from an inverter. This inverter is fed by a battery charger which receives its power from Class IE Motor Control Center 1K.In the event power is lost from MCC 1K, power is supplied to the inverter by a battery which normally receives a charge from the charger. In the event of an inverter failure, the static switch receives its power directly from MCC 1K.

A time history of 2 minutes before and 3 minutes after a reactor trip is recorded for the parameters which are measured at 8 second intervals.

Data on the strip charts and multipoint recorders is available for an indefinite time both before and after reactor trips.

CLASSIFICATION AND VENDOR INTERFACE (REACTOR TRIP SYSTEM INTERFACE)

We have confirmed that the reactor trip system components are classified as safety-related.
