By letter dated May 6, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System
[ADAMS] Accession No. ML21126A266), and supplemented by letters dated October 15, 2021 (ML21288A521) and March 13, 2023 (ML23072A426), Holtec International (Holtec) submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Amendment No. 7 to the HI-STORM Flood/Wind (FW) Multipurpose Canister Storage System, certificate of compliance (CoC) No.
1032. By a letter dated February 17, 2022 (ML22048C221), Holtec requested to separate the RIRP-I-16-01 CoC reorganization, also known as graded approach from Amendment No. 7, and instead, for the NRC to review the graded approach application as Amendment No. 9. The staff accepted the application for review on February 10, 2023 (ML23025A371), and issue the request for additional information (RAI) on October 4, 2023 (ML23229A515). On October 16, 2023, Holtec informed the staff to postpone the response until Amendment No. 7 CoC is finalized (ML23289A213).
By a letter dated December 21, 2023 (ML23355A081), Holtec requested to withdraw the HI-STORM FW Amendment No. 9 application from NRCs review. This communication serves as our acknowledgement of receipt of the request to withdraw the application and as notification of the termination of the NRC staffs activities on the review of your application. The Cost Activity Code/Enterprise Project Identification number 001028/ L-2022-LLA-0027 have been closed.
