Dear Sir:

Illinois Power Company (IP) letter #U.601496 to the Nuclear

• Regulatory Commission (NRC) dated July 21, 1989, stated that IP was .

, proceeding with additional qualification testing of terminal blocks for i control circuits of Conax electrical penetrations and that.the l qualification testing was to be performed by Wyle Laboratories. The.  !

-letter also stated that IP would' inform the NRC of the Wyle Laboratories f test.results and IP's evaluation of these results by November.30, 1989. -

The purpose of.this letter is to formally inform the NRC, as discussed

• in a management meeting between'IP and Region III on November 14, 1989, of a change in the schedule-for providing this information to the NRC.  !

The Wyle' Laboratories qualification testing,of terminal blocks is i

complete.- Preliminary review of.the test data indicates that some .,

anomalies occurred during the testing, These anomalies are currently  !

being evaluated. The schedule for issuance of the.Wyle Laboratories t

final test report has been delayed, pending completion of the i evaluation. IP will review the fins 1 test report upon receipt from Wyle  ;

Laboratories. By January 12, 1990, IP will inform the NRC of the Wyle

-Laboratories test results and of the results of IP's review, after transmittal of the above information to the NRC, IP will make arrangements to meet with appropriate NRC personnel to review the Wyle Laboratories test results, IP's review of the results, and IP's ccmmitment to replace terminal blocks in safety related control circuits -
