VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY SURRY UNIT NO. I 1988 ANNUAL STEAM GENERATOR INSERVICE INSPECTION REPORT EDDY CURRENT EXAMINATION During 1988 the steam generator tubes were examined once. This examination occurred during the May refueling outage. Tubes in 11 8 11 and "C" steam generators were examined during the outage. The material that follows presents the results of the examinations.
 
These results include the number and extent of the tubes examined, the location and percent of wall-thickness penetration for each indication of an imperfection, and the identification of the tubes that were plugged. Also included are a "Tubesheet Cross Section Plot" (Figure 1) and ''Tube Support Plate/Tubesheet Nomenclature" (Figure 2). In addition, those tubes reported as having distorted indications or undefined signals are insignificant indications that are either< 20% through wall or were judged to be non-relevant based upon the 1986 tube pull and examination.

In "B" Steam Generator there were 894 tube examinations from the inlet side. There were 106 tubes examined to the seventh support plate on the outlet side, and 788 tubes were examined full length (tubesheet-to-tubesheet).
 
This is approximately 27 percent of the available tubes. The tubes examined were found to have a total of 83 indications that are less than 20% through wall, and four indications that are between 20% and 40% through wall. No tubes were found to have indications greater than 40% through wall. No tubes were plugged. VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY SURRY UN IT NO. 2 1988 ANNUAL STEAM GENERATOR INSERVICE INSPECTION REPORT EDDY CURRENT EXAMINATION During 1988 the steam generator tubes were examined once.       This examination occurred during the September refueling outage. Tubes in "A" and "C" steam generators were examined during the outage. The materi a1 that fo 11 ows presents the results of the examinations. These results include the number and extent of the tubes examined, the location and percent of wall-thickness penetration for each indication of an imperfection, and the identification of the tubes that were plugged. Also included are a "Tubesheet Cross Section Plot" (Figure 1) and ''Tube Support Plate/Tubesheet Nomenclature" (Figure 2).
In addition, those tubes reported as having distorted indications or undefined signals are insignificant indications that are either< 20% through wall or were judged to be non-relevant based upon the 1986 tube pull and examination. These indications along with minor denting have been included in this report for future tracking and trending purposes and will be reexamined for further analysis at a later date.

In "A" Steam Generator there were 893 tube examinations from the inlet side. There were 97 tubes examined to the seventh support on the outlet side, 10 tubes were examined to the sixth support plate on the outlet side, and 786 tubes were examined full length (tubesheet-to-tubesheet).
 
This is approximately 27 percent of the available tubes. The tubes examined were found to have a total of 29 indications that are less than 20% through wall, and three indications that are between 20% and 40% through wall. No tubes were found to have indications greater than 40% through wall. No tubes were plugged. VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY SURRY UNIT NO. I 1988 ANNUAL STEAM GENERATOR INSERVICE INSPECTION REPORT EDDY CURRENT EXAMINATION During 1988 the steam generator tubes were examined once. This examination occurred during the May refueling outage. Tubes in 11 811 and "C" steam generators were examined during the outage. The material that follows presents the results of the examinations. These results include the number and extent of the tubes examined, the location and percent of wall-thickness penetration for each indication of an imperfection, and the identification of the tubes that were plugged. Also included are a "Tubesheet Cross Section Plot" (Figure 1) and Tube Support Plate/Tubesheet Nomenclature" (Figure 2).

In addition, those tubes reported as having distorted indications or undefined signals are insignificant indications that are either< 20% through wall or were judged to be non-relevant based upon the 1986 tube pull and examination. SUMMARY

In "B" Steam Generator there were 894 tube examinations from the inlet side.

There were 106 tubes examined to the seventh support plate on the outlet side, and 788 tubes were examined full length (tubesheet-to-tubesheet). This is approximately 27 percent of the available tubes. The tubes examined were found to have a total of 83 indications that are less than 20% through wall, and four indications that are between 20% and 40% through wall. No tubes were found to have indications greater than 40% through wall. No tubes were plugged. Refer to the table below for details.

VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY SURRY UN IT NO. 2 1988 ANNUAL STEAM GENERATOR INSERVICE INSPECTION REPORT EDDY CURRENT EXAMINATION During 1988 the steam generator tubes were examined once. This examination occurred during the September refueling outage. Tubes in "A" and "C" steam generators were examined during the outage. The materi a1 that fo 11 ows presents the results of the examinations. These results include the number and extent of the tubes examined, the location and percent of wall-thickness penetration for each indication of an imperfection, and the identification of the tubes that were plugged. Also included are a "Tubesheet Cross Section Plot" (Figure 1) and Tube Support Plate/Tubesheet Nomenclature" (Figure 2).

In addition, those tubes reported as having distorted indications or undefined signals are insignificant indications that are either< 20% through wall or were judged to be non-relevant based upon the 1986 tube pull and examination. These indications along with minor denting have been included in this report for future tracking and trending purposes and will be reexamined for further analysis at a later date.

e REFUELING OUTAGE - MAY 1988 UNIT 2 STEAM GENERATOR "A" EXAMINATION

SUMMARY

In "A" Steam Generator there were 893 tube examinations from the inlet side.

There were 97 tubes examined to the seventh support on the outlet side, 10 tubes were examined to the sixth support plate on the outlet side, and 786 tubes were examined full length (tubesheet-to-tubesheet). This is approximately 27 percent of the available tubes. The tubes examined were found to have a total of 29 indications that are less than 20% through wall, and three indications that are between 20% and 40% through wall. No tubes were found to have indications greater than 40% through wall. No tubes were plugged. Refer to the table below for details.

SUMMARY

In "C" Steam Generator there were 891 tube examinations from the inlet side.

There was one tube examined to the seventh support on the inlet side, 27 tubes were examined to the seventh support p1ate on the outlet side, 81 tubes were examined to the sixth support plate on the outlet side, one tube was examined to the fifth support p1ate on the out 1et side, and 781 tubes were examined ful 1 length (tubesheet-to-tubesheet). This is approximately 27 percent of the

  • available tubes. The tubes examined were found to have a total of 42 indications that are less than 20% through wall, and seven indications that are between 20%

and 40% through wall. No tubes were found to have indications greater than 40%
