At 8:00 P.M.a biologist qualified in manatee behavior observed the animal in the canal and made an assessment that the animal was not in immediate danger.On Sunday, September 1, from 8:15-10:15 A.M., the animal again was observed by FPL personnel and determined that it was in no immediate danger by its confinement in the intake canal.Starting around 10:15 A.M., Sunday, federal and state agencies were notified.The Florida Department of Natural Resources (DNR)sent one of their personnel to observe the animal between 2-3:00 P.M.and also concluded that the animal was in no immediate danger.Discussion on a capture attempt was postponed to Tuesday, September 3.The animal was successfully removed from the canal by Florida DNR personnel at 4:45 P.M.Tuesday.The animal was safely uampored to Lomy Park Zoo located in Tampa, Florida for observation and treatment of a previously incurred boat propeller wound, CL.A C T 4}}

At about 4:15 P.M. on Saturday, August 31, 1991 a West Indian manatee was observed in the intake canal of the St. Lucie Plant. The animal was repeatedly observed offshore around the cooling water intake construction platform earlier in the day (1-3 PM) by construction personnel.
At 8:00 P.M. a biologist qualified in manatee behavior observed the animal in the canal and made an assessment that the animal was not in immediate danger.
On Sunday, September 1, from 8:15 - 10:15 A.M., the animal again was observed by FPL personnel and determined that     it was in no immediate danger by its confinement in the intake canal.
Starting around 10:15 A.M., Sunday, federal and state agencies were notified.         The Florida Department of Natural Resources       (DNR) sent one of their personnel to observe the animal between 2-3:00 P.M. and also concluded that the animal was in no immediate danger. Discussion on a capture attempt was postponed to Tuesday, September 3.
The animal was successfully removed from the canal by Florida DNR personnel at 4:45 P.M.
Tuesday. The animal was safely uampored to Lomy Park Zoo located in Tampa, Florida for observation and treatment of a previously incurred boat propeller wound,
