SUMMARY

OF THE MARCH 22, 2006, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE FERMI 2 END-OF-CYCLE PLANT PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On March 22, 2006, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Monroe County Board of Commissioner's Chambers in Monroe, Michigan. The meeting was

between NRC Region III management and Detroit Edison Company (DECo) management to discuss the NRC's assessment of Fermi 2's safety performance for the period from January 1

through December 31, 2005. The meeting notice and NRC presentation can be found in the

Agencywide Documents Access and Managem ent System (ADAMS) as ML060660193 and ML060940707, respectively. A list of principal NRC and licensee meeting participants can be

found in the attached Enclosure.

The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRC's Reactor Oversight Program (ROP), national ROP results, and the Action Matrix in general. This was followed by a discussion of the

NRC's assessment of Fermi 2's performance in calendar year 2005, which was documented in

the March 2, 2006, end-of-cycle assessment letter. As part of this regulatory performance

meeting, DECo briefly responded to the NRC's assessment. At the end of the meeting, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials and DECo

representatives.
