The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Bulletin 2011-01, "Mitigating Strategies," dated May 11, 2011, to request licensees to provide a comprehensive verification of their compliance with the regulatory requirements of Title 10 ofthe Code ofFederal Regulations (10 CFR) Section The Enclosure to this letter contains sensitive information.

Withhold from public disclosure under 10 CFR 2.390.

Upon removal of the Enclosure, this letter is uncontrolled.

In accordance with the bulletin, Union Electric (dba Ameren Missouri) provided a 30-day response and a 60-day response to the bulletin for the Callaway plant via letters dated June 10, 2011 and July 11, 2010, respectively (per References 1 and 2). These written responses were provided in accordance with 10 CFR 50.54(£) as required by the bulletin.

By letter dated December 7, 2011 (Reference 3), the NRC transmitted a Request for Information (RAI) in regard to Ameren Missouri's response(s) to the bulletin. In the letter, the NRC notes that the staff has reviewed the information provided by Ameren Missouri via the letters dated June 10 and July 11, 2011, and has determined that additional information is needed for the staffto complete its review.

The requested information is hereby provided in the enclosure to this letter. Further, the information is being provided within the 30-day response time specified in the NRC's RAI letter.

There are no new regulatory commitments contained or identified in this letter. If there are any questions, or if additional information is required, please contact Stephanie Banker, Manager-Protective Services, at 573-220-9836.
