The NRC formally accepted the TRISO-X license application for review by letter dated November 18, 2022 (Reference 4).

TRISO-X is finalizing the detailed design for the fuel fabrication facility, and site plan, which will accommodate additional process buildings. Since submittal of the application, equipment designs have matured, and the US DOE Office of Clean Energy Deployment (OCED) has identified a source of high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) that may be suitable for TRISO-Xs Advanced Reactor Demonstration Project (ARDP) cooperative agreement. However, this HALEU source is of a form not originally included in the application. Accordingly, changes must be made to the design and license application documents in order to receive the material. Both the DOE and TRISO-X believe the effort worthy as receipt of the HALEU would eliminate a proliferation
