UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 MEMORANDUM TO: Samantha Lav, Chief Fuel Facility Licensing Branch Division of Fuel Management Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards FROM: Matt Bartlett, Sr. Project Manager Fuel Facility Licensing Branch Division of Fuel Management Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards

SUBJECT:

SUMMARY

OF PUBLIC MEETING ON JUNE 17, 2024, WITH TRISO-X, LLC., TO DISCUSS THE STATUS OF THE LICENSE APPLICATION REVIEW (ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFIER L-2022-PMP-0005)

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted an open Microsoft Teams meeting with TRISO-X, LLC. (TRISO-X) on June 17, 2024, from 1:00PM until 1:30PM. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the status of the review for the new TRISO-X Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 70 fuel fabrication facility license application (LA). In addition, the NRC staff discussed the NRCs project dashboard for the TRISO-X license application review ( https://www.nrc.gov/info-finder/fc/triso-x.html). This included an overview of the project, several Gantt Charts of the schedule, and a list of the High Impact Technical Items (HITIs).

The dashboards contain several tabs that provide different representations of the progress of the license review. When TRISO-X supplements its LA with the revised LA at the end of 2024, the NRC staff will review the new materials and determine if some items currently marked complete should change to pending.

The sixth tab of the dashboard provides information on the four high impact technical items (HITIs). The HITIs include 20 methodology requests for information that need resolution for the integrated safety analysis (ISA) summary, structural design, and management measures and quality assurance (MM/QA); and the electrical/ I&C portions of the LA. There are 10 ISA summary methodology RAIs, four structural methodology RAIs, and five MM/QA methodology RAIs. The electrical/I&C LA materials were submitted on February 29, 2024 (ML24060A239).

The HITIs are updated routinely, and some of the RAIs have been resolved since the HITIs were initially created.
