SUMMARY

OF MEETINGS ON FEBRUARY 21 AND 22, 2024, WITH TRISO-X LLC, TO ALIGN ON NRC SUPPLEMENT FOR THE TRISO-X RESPONSES TO THE REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE INTEGRATED SAFETY ANALYSIS, CONTINUED (ENTERPRISE PROJECT IDENTIFIER L-2022-PMP-0005)

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) hosted additional discussions in closed Microsoft Teams meetings with TRISO-X, LLC (TRISO-X) on February 21, 2024, from 10:00AM until 12:00PM and February 22, 2024, from 10:00AM until 12:00PM. The purpose of the meetings was to align on the need to supplement the TRISO-X responses to the requests for additional information (RAI) submitted via letter dated October 12, 2023 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML23285A344). The TRISO-X original application was received April 5, 2022 (ML22101A200) and was supplemented by letters dated October 13, 2022 (ML22286A144), November 4, 2022 (ML22308A251) and February 29, 2024 (ML24060A239).

The NRC staff has held a number of meetings with TRISO-X to discuss the supplemental information needed to resolve the RAIs, held December 11, 2023, December 14, 2023, January 8, 2024, January 11, 2024, January 17, 2024, January 23, 2024 (combined meeting summary -

ML23332A074), February 1, 2024 (ML24043A240 - non-public). The February 21 and 22 meetings continue these discussions, as summarized below.

TRISO-X presented draft updates to sections of the license application (LA) to demonstrate examples, that provide a basis for their methodology assumptions, calculations, and potential updates to the RAI responses, the LA, and the integrated safety analysis (ISA) Summary. The NRC and TRISO-X staff discussed options for the NRC staff to formally request a supplement to CONTACT: Joseph Rudd, NMSS/DFM 301-415-5039 A document transmitted herewith contains Security-Related Information. When separated from, this document and is decontrolled.

The NRC staff requested TRISO-X share the draft supplement with the NRC staff prior to formal submittal to allow additional opportunity in order to align on resolution of the RAIs.

The NRC staff developed slides to identify the supplemental information TRISO-X needs to provide for the RAIs which were documented as part of a previous meeting summary (ML23332A074).
